You are right in saying that the "save as default" check box gets un-checked
after closing the requester with the ok button. But you are wrong in saying
that MI will not keep the settings when it re-opens. The "save settings"
applies only to those existing at the time of the save operation and will
not register any change subsequent to that save. You will have to run the
save operation again just before closing to make sure that MI will reopen in
the exact state you left it.

Peter,

This question also interested me, and I note there is indeed a 'save as
default'
checkbox available in the Toolbar Options dialogue. However, I wonder if as
step is missing, because in my installation after pressing the 'okay' button
to
this dialogue box the 'save as default' checkbox un-checks itself and of
course
the toolbars will not be saved in their new locations next time you start
MapInfo.

I would appreciate any comments.

Ron

1. Place the buttonpads/toolbars where you want them
2. Rightclick on any of these buttonpads/toolbars
3. Check the Save as default at the bottom of the dialog
