Thanks to those of you who replied so quickly. I believe I need to rephrase the question. Let's say I have 100 points in a database. If I manually (visually) select or spatially select some of those points (not using an SQL select), and then add that "Selection" into my mapper as a new Layer, it goes away, even if I save my workspace. Apparently, the only way to save this type of thing in the workspace is to have it "become" an SQL select. Because I do not want superfluous data floating around my disk, I cannot do a Save to New Table because that creates duplicate data that I do not want. So what I'm asking is, does anyone else ever need to do this (a non-SQL select either visually or spatially) and want to keep it "virtually" in the workspace without creating "new" duplicate data? If so, how do you deal with it?
