Dear Forum,

Has anyone had any luck with Mapinfo Pro 7.0 connecting via "Live Access" to Oracle
9.2 "VIEW JOINS" containing spatial data?

A View Join is 2 or more Oracle Tables feeding attributes through one view with one of
the attributes containing a geometry field.

I was originally getting the "A single numeric key column is required on the table."
even though my table or view definitely has the Oracle PRIMARYKEY set to a numeric
column.

Further, I have tested an Oracle view that contains attributes including a geometry
column from ONE Oracle Table to ONE Oracle View. The MapInfo Pro 7.0 "Download Data"
option works however and "Live Access" connects and displays a Mapper window however
nothing appears. I've tried "View Entire Layer" and tried to select everything but I
still cannot see anything.

I have the MAPINFO schema in Oracle setup and populated, to the best of my knowledge,
correctly because I can see the geometry if I connect directly to the source Oracle
tables.

I have made all views and tables Mappable.
I have added a column to the MAPINFO_MAPCATALOG table called NUMBER_ROWS and populate
it with the counts from the respective views and tables.
I am currently logging into the Oracle database as the schema owner so I should have
enough privileges.

Software Versioning;
MapInfo Professional 7.0 on
Windows 2000 Pro SP3 with
Oracle Client 8.1.7
Oracle Server is 9.2.0.1 on UNIX

So, does anyone have any tips?

Should I abandon Oracle Views and go straight to the Oracle tables?

regards
