MI-L How to find out what is around point objects?

How do I do the following with MapInfo Professional 6.5 or 7.0 (or if 
necessary with MapBasic 7.0)? I have a big set of coordinates (point 
objects) and I need to find out what is around each of them. That is:

1) what regions intersect with a hypothetical circle of given radius around 
each point and
2) how much (expressed as a percentage of total area of circle) each region 
overlaps with each circle?

There are 9 regions, each in a separate table, and roughly 1000 points in 
one separate table.
