There is a very interesting behaviour here. If you run that command, the column is added and is visible in the browser. If you do nothing like a "save as" or a "commit", it is not registered in the table structure (you can modify it without a suggested save before doing it) and there does not seem to be any pending edit because there is no "Revert table" available.
So the solution would be to close the table as suggested but disregarded. However; if the changes are only related to the new column, they will simply be dropped because not considered as pending.
