Hi everyone, Firstly, thanks to all who took the time to reply to my question about trying to speed up MapX's redraws of a large seamless raster table. Secondly, sorry to have taken so long to summarise. Thirdly - two fixes were suggested - 1. alter the raster format handler DLL being used by mapx (p260, chapter 17 of the MapX developer's guide), which gives a small performance boost, and 2. re-format the rasters from compressed TIFFs to ECW - which managed to reduce redraw times from 6-10 seconds down to <1 second. Fantastic. Incidentally, I found out that the free ECW compressor can be run from the command line, and therefore batched - there is a benefit to reading the manual every once in a while! ;-) Thanks again to everyone who helped. Dave.
