Just thought I would add a couple of points to what is otherwise a pretty accurate summary of the PAI issue. On the PAI web site there are some maps which will give you a graphical view of the roll-out of PAI, this information is updated monthly and provides a useful tool for gauging the impact of PAI on customer data holdings. The maps require the Adobe SVG plugin which can be obtained from the Adobe web site. Go to http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/positional then click on the maps option on the left hand side of the page. As to the suggestion of OS providing a software solution to handle the problem - OS do not engage in software development, we have an excellent partner network who are extensively involved in developing solutions to handle OS data (including PAI). Internally we do not shift our own data via a software solution, the link files are generated in software but the actual PAI work is a manually intensive process. Our partners can offer far better solutions than OS ever could, and as such it makes sense that they do it. Like wise OS would never recommend any one solution over another - we provide some key questions that customers should ask their vendor, the answers to these questions will allow the customer to decide on the best software for their particular situation. Hope this helps, if anyone has further questions I am more than happy to take them. Alternatively the PAI section of the OS web site is an excellent resource.
