G'day all, I am trying to map the incidence of disease (dengue fever, a mosquito borne disease) in a city to individual property level, with the MI7.0 'point range default' thematic template to show a shaded star symbol on each polygon where dengue exists, with the thematic value being the age of the dengue case in days.
I would like to use a point based thematic as I have the polygons already shaded and filled thematically with 3 other themes and a point for each case would not obstruct the viewing of the other underlying data. Whichever way I try to thematically map this data (an updated temporary column with the value determined from a joined RDMS table) - either by a straight table join in the thematic mapping dialogue box or by using SQL select to create a query where select columns * where RDMStable.Lot_Plan = MapInfo.Lot_Plan and thematically mapping that, the result is thematically shaded polygons, not symbols. I previously believed the problem was being caused by muli-point data within the cadastral table I was using as the base table, however now I believe that the problem lies somewhere in the point range default thematic template or the fact that I'm using polygons for a point-based template. Is it possible to generate thematically shaded symbols appearing at the centroid of polygons where the polygon table is the base underlying table to which the case data is joined/geocoded? Would you recommend converting the polygon table to points using a pre-existing mapbasic app. and try the thematic on that? Any advice appreciated, will sum for MapInfo-L. Best wishes for the festive season, Al. *************************************************** Alistair Hart Vector Control Officer Dengue Action Response Team Tropical Public Health Unit Network PO Box 1103 Cairns QLD 4870 Ph: 0740 503 628 Fax: 0740 311 440 E: [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Unless we use natural resources in a sustainable way, we are mining the future.
