Hello Listers..... I have just been handed some work that i'm a little bit stuck with!
I know how to do this manually, but theres absolutely tons of data so it would take me far too long to do! What it is basically is a utilties company has come to ask us to do some route tracing for them... We've been given a cable network in mapinfo, some cables are filled with oil... We've been give a spreadsheet with the start and end coordinates (at substations) of a route through these cables. What we've been asked to do is to calculate the direct route (excluding offtakes etc) between start and end point and create a new table with the route of the cable shown... So I need to know how to get a direct route between two points, following a network where there are oil filled pipes... I could obviously change the colour of pipes that are oil filled and copy them out manually, but like i said theres loads of data and i have 2 weeks to finish it.. Can anyone reccomend a plugin or something I can use to do this, i think tho i may be wrong that some kind of driving / route planning software could do this? It would need to be free or low cost <$200.. If anyone knows something i could use or knows a way to do this just in mapinfo i'd be grateful for any advice...
