Using the Snap makes it possible to snap to existing nodes in other objects. If you combine the Snap functionality with holding down the SHIFT or the CTRL key, you will be able to trace existing line segments. The difference between the two is that the SHIFT key uses the short distance in region objects and CTRL uses the long distance in region objects.
