Hi Ben,

If you want to mess with MITAB C++ sources, you need a C++ compiler.
Several exist and from what you have written on MITAB list and here, you
don't have one. The .NET framework won't help you either - there is no
C++ compiler there.

If you don't have VC++, you will have to create your own make file,
since each C++ compiler uses it's own format for make files (afaik).
There are free c++ compiler available such as Borland C++ 5.5 command
line compiler:

C++ is not my game, so I can't help you much more than that.
