you are using bad info tool. Try to use info tool from VM toolbox otherwise you could not reach the information storaged into grid cell.
Info button from MI environment is supported ONLY MI grid file (*.mig) producing by MI thematic function and/or by other (sub)programs such Grid Analyser (www.terris.sk), which is similar to Vert. Mapper, but it works mainly with MI (*.mig) grid files. The quering of Vert. Mapper's grid files (*.grd) is supported as well.
