Hi,

We are researching a web project for a client that is a current user of
MapInfo. Unfortunately, I've never used MapInfo, so apologise if what I'm
asking is very straightforward (our client doesn't know how to do it, so I
imagine it's probably not that easy).

The client has Ordnance Survey (OS) map data of a part of the UK in their
MapInfo system, with various definitions of areas/boundaries (districts,
parishes etc.). The client's maps are on two scales 1:25,000 and 1:10,000.

The client would like us to be able to take their map and serve it up as
'tiles' on the various scales; i.e. the user is presented with the overview
of the area (probably hand-drawn graphic), they then click part of the
overview and are shown the appropriate 1:25,000 tile, and again, upon
clicking, are shown the appropriate 1:10,000 tile.

I'm fairly happy that we have a way to plot location data onto the tiles
once/if we can get them out of MapInfo.

Ideally what I would like to get out of MapInfo is the area cut up into a
number of 1:25,000 tiles, and each of these sectioned into appropriate
1:10,000 tiles. To assist with the placing of the tiles in the web
environment I would need also to get the co-ordinates of two corners of the
tile.

Reading the recent thread "MI-L extracting grid coordinates" - I can see
that it looks like part this can be done.

Could anyone advise if what we want to achieve is possible, and how best to
go about it please? Reference to appropriate MapInfo examples/tutorials
would be very useful.

Alternatively, any information about serving up MapInfo data in a
PHP/MySQL/Linux (open source/low-cost) environment via an alternative method
which achieves the same result would be useful.

Many thanks in anticipation of your time and help.

Kind regards,

Roland
