Wow. Thank you. MapInfo and Bill Wemple deserve that. I appreciate your
attention to my little problem. Many other people responded with the answer
too, but Bill went the extra mile. I will be up and naming views in no time.

I've compiled a new one in MB 5.5 to use the ApplicationDirectory$()
instead of HomeDirectory$() in the original nviews.mbx. I've provided the
source code below as well.
If the ApplicationDirectory$() is not acceptable either, you may want to
use the GetFolderPath$() function to get a path to a user profile location
and put the nviews.txt file there.
(See attached file: NVIEWS.MB)(See attached file: nviews.MBX)(See attached
file: NVPROJ.MBP)(See attached file: AUTO_LIB.MBO)

Bill, Would you please add this to directionsmag.com download site for
others who may run into this issue.
Thanks,

-Bill

Greetings,
I recently migrated to XP. I lost all of my named views on the way.
No big deal, just recreate. Problem--Named views stores the txt file in
C:\Winnt directory. The wonderful IS people will not let us save to the C
drive (main hard drive). I look at the Nview.mbx in notepad and it is
coded. How do I change the file direction of the nview mbx if I can't
even
read it. Am I missing the obvious?

TIA,
