Ross:

Wow, it is quite surprising that this has not been fixed since 4.1.
Maybe someone from MapInfo could chime in with a patch or something.

If you cannot get this to work for you, there are other alternatives
using other tools. We have built and implemented this kind of batch PDF
generation application in a web environment for other clients (doing
similar kinds of huge volume too) but not just for mapping, but also
incorporating in custom demographic reports, trending charts, sales
data, competitor lists, and so on all combined into a single PDF
document for each geography.

Check out http://www.stdbonline.com/index.cfm?action=pwrtools.profile
which is set up as an e-commerce site as a publicly available example.
This particular site does not do the really big batches, but it will
give you the idea of what is possible.

Good luck,

Hi Ross

See what I googled in a paper of 1997 about MapInfo 4.1.2 (!!!); didn0t
get better in V7, is it still 16bit - seems ... :-( ...:

"In 16-bit MapInfo, you can print only a limited number of times before
a system resource leak causes the application to shut down. Error
messages such as "Internal Error 34000" orDivide by zero are
sometimes displayed but most of the time the application just dies.
(#17152)"
