After much thought and reminiscing about how I have explained what I do to various
people, I've come up with this:
- GIS: I search for, create and view information about the world around us.
This helps me to answer questions. With some effort I can answer any
question.
For example, how far is it from my house to grandma's? Is it quicker to walk through
the woods or jump in my car and go all the way around? Should I pack a picnic lunch,
or just bring grandma a snack based on the distance and my estimated rate of travel?
What types of predators are in said woods and where am I most like to encounter them
based on hydrography, vegetation, geology, and wildlife counts? Based on the
predator/prey ratio, are said predators like to be hungry? Hmmm...looks like the
woods is shorter...I'll just grab my cape and be going.
Cheers,
Josh C. Hickman

How about:-
I show different things on pretty coloured maps! Like where is the nearest
shop?
