or we train machines where to find your teeth.... and then for them to tell you were they are.... ( i could do with something like that myself for a number of things such as car keys)...
actually my grandad is quite up clued on maps, cartography and geography even though he was an accountant... so I tend to go along the lines that GIS is about telling people facts/information about places and organising that information as they need and in a manner that is accessible/repeatable to them. Computers are the handy little tool that let us do it quickly and efficiently.
