Hi Menelo! While it is true that ECW files can be georeferenced it is also so that MapInfo does not make any use of this information. Other software I use simply opens the ECW file in place without further ado.
If you are sure that the files you are given really are referenced, you need a tool to extract this info and hand copy it into a MapInfo tab file that describes the referencing to MapInfo. Use another tab file for a referenced image as template. I usually use the ECW Header Editor, which you can download for free from http://www.ermapper.com/downloads/ Another very nifty tool, also including a viewer, is ECW spy, downloadable from http://www.digitalearth.com.au/ Hlsning/ Best regards Mats.E ________________________ FB Engineering AB Sdra Frstadsgatan 26 211 43 Malm Tel: 040-665 64 80 Mobil: 0705-27 60 27 Fax: 040-665 69 90 e-post: [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.fbe.se Ben A Greenberg <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 2004-03-25 20:35 Till 'Menelo Argiropoulos' <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Kopia rende RE: MI-L MI-L: ECW files... Hi Listers, Haven't had a chance to work with ECW files in the past. Usually use Mr. Sid file with .sdw. I was recently provided some ECW ortho photos, but, I cannot reference them simply like a Mr.Sid. Usually I enter the files projection and the Sid file is referenced. For the ECW files, it asks me to enter at least 3 points, which I do not have. Something missing ? The files were sent to me from an ESRI shop who say that they always send out the ECW file to people and the files are referenced. I'm using MIP7.0 Do I need something extra for Mapinfo to do this ? How can I get ECW files to work like my Mr.Sid and it's .sdw file ? Need answer quickly ... Thanks in advance.
