I used to work for a engineering company that dealt with drainage and we
used a system called InfoWorks (http://www.wallingford-software.co.uk/),
this linked in with MapInfo to provide the map bases (in a similar format to
Layer Control in MapInfo), but also allows you to input and visualise (long
section and 3d) pipeline networks (dimensions, invert levels etc).
