Dunno about hard coded database limits -- but 2GB is way more than I'd ask Access to deal with from a performance perspective.
You can deploy a mini-SQL Server (MSDE) for the cost of an office developer or Visual Studio license, but I KNOW that it has the magic 2GB limit. If your database is that big you should, in my humble opinion, be looking at a "real" data server. Maybe MySQL or one of the open source guys would fit the bill -- if money is an issue. SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 etc. certainly would but that's a huge technology step to take. -----Original Message----- From: John Polasky [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, March 31, 2004 12:17 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: MI-L MS Access... Good Afternoon Listers- Does anyone out there know of limitations in Access, in terms of maximum database size and maximum number of links/hyperlinks? We're starting to run into problems with a report we're creating (using Access). We don't rely on Access for our daily GIS work, but we were trying to automate a report in Access that pulled from a variety of sources, including MapInfo. It seems like 2 GB could be the limit in Access. Is that true? What about limits on the hyperlinks? If anyone can advise I'd appreciate it!! Thanks. Sincerely, John E.
