Cartographic Programmer
Maponics, LLC is a fast-growing Vermont company providing
mapping services to customers throughout the US. We pride
ourselves on delivering top-quality products with
exceptional service.
We need a GIS programming expert to help us automate custom
mapping projects. Responsibilities will include: Develop
tools to streamline map production; Create standard and
custom electronic maps; and Perform spatial analysis. The
qualified candidate will have a cartography-related or
computer science degree; GIS programming expertise; 2+ years
of commercial experience; and a �Customer-first� attitude.
Web programming and/or system administration skills would be
helpful.
We are located in a beautiful area bordering Vermont and New
Hampshire, with excellent schools, outdoor activities, and
easy access to Boston and Montreal. Relocation expenses are
the candidate�s responsibility. Unfortunately we cannot
sponsor any Visas, so are only accepting applications from
US citizens.
Cartographic Experience Requirements:
� A minimum of 2 years professional experience with
commercial GIS (MapInfo, ESRI)
o Recent graduates will not be considered without relevant
work experience
� A minimum of 2 years professional programming experience
o GIS-specific languages expected in addition to standard
programming languages
o Samples of past work will be required
� Experience in the design and production of electronic and
hard copy cartographic products
o A portfolio of past work will be required
� Database skills including geocoding, SQL, and experience
manipulating commercial data products (such as demographics,
Census, street networks, etc)
Serious candidates should also have at least 2 of the
following skills
� Experience in a high-end and/or high-volume map production
environment
� Minimum 2 years of commercial experience managing and
manipulating large GIS databases
� Minimum 2 years of commercial Web Master skills including
setting up and maintaining online �shopping carts� with
real-time gateways
� Minimum 2 years of commercial Computer and Network System
Administration
