Brian

Seeing as it is Friday....
Are you comparing CAD or GIS?
Do you seek a drawing system or an information system?
Do you want to analyse data or look at maps?
Everyone wants something different but which way is the balance tipped?

My mum told me never to answer back.... sorry!

Subject: MI-L MapInfo vs. Other GIS Programs

Seeing as it is Friday, I thought I could ask a general question regarding
how MapInfo compares to other GIS formats. I am quite green with all things
GIS, having dabbled in it for last 4 years and only really using it
frequently in the last couple of months. I have been using AutoCAD for over
15 years and find MapInfo's drafting/display capabilities quite limited. I
appreciate that MapInfo is not a CAD package and does not require all of the
bells and whistles that come with AutoCAD, but is there any other GIS
programs that are ahead of MapInfo in this respect?

Regards,

Brian Cowper
