I am looking at creating some TINs in mapinfo of lidar topographic data because vertical mapper is taking too long and/or crashing due to the number of points. I have looked a lot in the mapinfo reference manuals and have not found information on how mapinfo performs its TIN operation. I am especially curious to understand how the feature angle affects the TIN (the manual says it affects the smoothness, but I am wondering how). Thanks for any info you can give me on the mapinfo TIN or in general how you have succeeded in performing a TIN on millions of points in mapinfo (or vertical mapper).
