Hello Jesse,
> Hi, I have sample points without evelvation Z values. > I have countour lines with Z values. I also can get DEM points to use. > I want to do a search around my sample point for nearest two points/line > obj with Z values then do a wieghted average based on the closeness/distance from the two points/lines. I don't know if you are open to considering other tools, but our FME transformation/translation package can do exactly what you want done. Among its many facilities is a surfacemodelling package that can build a TIN from DEM points / contour lines and then you can "drape" 2d points onto the resulting surface and get a correctly interopolated Z value. Visit www.safe.com <http://www.safe.com/> for a free evaluation, or contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] to request a webex demo of exactly this functionality in action. www.safe.com/movies has a number of other demonstrations of things that can be done with FME as well.
