Ross is a Fortune 500 Company looking to hire a Sr. Market Research Analyst position at its corporate offices in Pleasanton, California (relocating from Newark, CA in July 2004). Ross is a fast-paced growing company with $4 Billion in Sales, 600 Stores in 25 States and 2 store concepts. Job Description The position will work as part of the Real Estate Market Research department to analyze sites for our future growth & expansion. The job consists of numerous market research and analysis functions. Major functions include preparing in-house market research studies and reports using demographics (Claritas) and GIS applications (MapInfo/Basic), primary research methods and statistical analyses. The job will analyze data on various projects associated with efforts to expand our store network, understanding our competitors, and other related analyses. Examine customer behavior. Analyze competitors' growth strategies. Define and understand the characteristics of individual stores (or groups of stores). Create market penetration studies, maps and reports. Produce monthly and quarterly reports and prepare various written recommendations based upon your findings. Qualifications * Strong analytical and problem solving skills; strong background in site selection principles and techniques. * Knowledge of retail store location strategies. * Strong knowledge of GIS technology (MapInfo) & spatial analysis. * Project management experience a plus; Demonstrate ability to recommend, develop, manage and drive projects to successful completion. * Display the abilities to meet strict deadlines. * Initiate technical problem solving process, recommend solutions and facilitate closure with limited supervision. * Demonstrates confidence and is effective in one-on-one and group presentations. * Experience with statistical software & modeling is a plus. * Flexible and able to adapt solutions to evolving needs. * Undergraduate degree in Geography, urban studies, GIS, statistics or equivalent. * Retail real estate/market research experience a plus. * Excellent organizational, communication, analytical and writing skills. * Position requires extreme confidentiality in handling/distributing reports and studies based on company's proprietary information. * Periodic travel may be required.
