I don't think you can do that inside MI, and what a file size that would create! Have you tried using the Seamless Table Manger, it keeps the files separate but in layer control there is one entry, and any effects layer control can achieve are applied globally across the individual files. Zoom layering is a good fried to have in these situations too, keeping the rasters turned off above a zoom level that renders the images useless. You can not edit the individual file through the seamless table, you must open the specific file to be edited. This drawback is of little significance for rasters, assuming they are already registered. I have tried to "stitch" rasters together in a graphics program, but that proved untenable, perhaps because it was a cheap program. As I recall, I had to apply minute rotations as I added images together. And when I tried to register these stitched images, these rotational problems magnified errors. Again, it is possible if you spend enough money on a graphics program that can put these together. ERDAS comes to mind.
