If it came off a CD, you may need to make the base files (TAB, DAT, ID, MAP, etc) read/write instead of read only before you open the table. To change the privileges, select the files in the File Explorer, right click, and choose Properties. Another possibility is that the table is based on a text, excel or other non-editable format.
