Hi Angela

the problem ist that MapInfo hantching is not really transparent as it 
is a bitmap. if you zoom in heavily in your PDF you should see 
the "transparency" (the dots of the bitmap). In addition^it should 
print correctly. If you want to have real transparency you can use a 
full fill for the vectors and put the raster on top and set it to i.e. 
50% transparency (I think only in MapInfo 7.0 or newer); however the 
PDF will get a lot larger ........
