Hi,

sounds to me like you are hitting the 4kilobyte limit per row of data in mapinfo ...
your 16 fields would be fields with 254 characters in them would they?

Subject: MI-L Shapefile to MI TAB conversion : Error if more than 16
fields

Hi,

When I use Universal Translator to convert a shapefile
to a MapInfo TAB
I receive an error if there's more than 16 fields (not
counting
the "shape" field).

After removing superfluous fields (so we have 16
fields or less) it
works perfectly.

Here is the error returned in the log file:
"MapInfo file 'C:\GO\Polygons.tab' could not be
opened. Check that
file path name is valid. Also check for adequate disk
space.
Program Terminating
Translation FAILED."

Any Ideas?
