MI-L Importing pdf in MI

I have a world map in Winkel Tripel projection (the projection used by 
National Geographic) (which I think is not supported in MI) in .pdf, Adobe 
Illustrator format (.ai) (or in .shp) than I'd like to edit in MI.

I can't convert my .shp in .tab using a program like FME because the 
projection is not supported in MI

Is there a way to import it ? Does someone know a program that can convert 
it in a format supported by MI or how can I draw a map in MI in Winkel 
Tripel projection ?
