Thanks for all the responses! Since most were posted on the list, I won't repeat them here (I should, but it's Friday, and I'm lazy.)
Anyway, I came up with a solution that dumps a text file into a layout window. You can choose any base font, set the top and left margins, and it also supports bold and italic using html-like markup in the text. This was pretty much all I needed. I needed to use a layout window because I wanted cleanly scaled text and the ability to drop other text and frames into it. You can download the MapBasic source and ver 6.0 MBX from my FTP site here: ftp://ftp.gisnet.com/pub/, and the file is called LayoutText.zip. Feel free to use it as you like or make improvements. In the spirit of Friday funnies, it comes with a political joke as the test file. Just run it with the defaults and it will create a new layout window and print the (long) joke there. And if you don't think it's funny, just change the politician's name to the Fearless Leader of your choice. - Bill Thoen --------------------------------------------------------------------- List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message number: 13668
