Objet : VM interpolation problem
Hello,
I have a problem interpolating points data (I use Simple Natural Neighbouring ; I
might agree it's not the most suitable method in my case but this is an other matter).
To try to explain the problem simply, let's say that my points are layed out as follow
:
So what I should expext, as a result, is a rectangular grid. Well, this is what I get
:
_____________________
I I
I x x x I
I I
\ I
\ I
\x x x I
/ I
/ I
/ I
I x x x I
I I
I I
I x x x I
------------------------------------------------
I just can't figure out why this shape ! I've even try to add an extra point where the
"hole" is and that point is simply ignored !
Of course, my points are not layed out so geometrically in the case i'm studying, but
there are only 10 points (soil analyses), the dispersion is quite homogeneous and
there is no clustering effects.
This is roughly how my points are really layed out :
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
X
As anyone an idea why this occurs ? I'm using VM 3.0 with Mapinfo 7.5.
Thanks for any help, hints or clues that anyone could give
