^Objet: RE : MI-L VM interpolation problem
^
^Hello again,
^
^After some investigations, it seems that the layout of the point might
^explain the bizarre results in VM. I've tried the same interpolation 4
^times on the same sets of point.Between each interpolation, I rotated the
^set of points of 90 deg. Guess what : the result are correct for the set of
^point after a rotation of 90 deg, 180 deg, 270 deg. Other than a bug, what
^could it be ?
^
^Best regards

^^Download the free VM 3.1 (upgrades a 3.0 to 3.1) from
^^http://www.mapinfo.com/verticalmapper. No need to to running version 3.0
^^anymore.
^^I don't understand your problem, a VM grid is always rectangular, but you
^^can have some NULL values created when interpolating, so the grid won't
^^look like it rectangular. Depending on your display settings in the
^^interpolation dialog you will get a grid that is larger than area covered
^^by your points. Use a convex hull to trim your grid then. If you still
^have
^^a problem after upgrading to 3.1 or/and trimming send me the vector point
^^file and list your interpolation settings. And I will give it a try.

^^Objet : VM interpolation problem
^^
^^
^^
^^Hello,
^^
^^
^^
^^I have a problem interpolating points data (I use Simple Natural
^^Neighbouring ; I might agree it's not the most suitable method in my case
^^but this is an other matter). To try to explain the problem simply, let's
^^say that my points are layed out as follow :
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^
^^So what I should expext, as a result, is a rectangular grid. Well, this is
^^what I get :

^^
^^I just can't figure out why this shape ! I've even try to add an extra
^^point where the "hole" is and that point is simply ignored !
^^
^^Of course, my points are not layed out so geometrically in the case i'm
^^studying, but there are only 10 points (soil analyses), the dispersion is
^^quite homogeneous and there is no clustering effects.
^^
^^
^^
^^This is roughly how my points are really layed out :

^^As anyone an idea why this occurs ? I'm using VM 3.0 with Mapinfo 7.5.
