Thanks to everyone who replied with tips on autotrace, especially to Peter M�ller. I have a handle on the autotrace now due mainly to his email-help-file as I am going to call it.
I agree that it is a very useful tool. It would have made some of my work easier had I known before that it existed. I will be using it from now on, though.
