Hi Stephen,
This sounds very usefull. We do often encounter that problem. To the point
that we don't dare to delete any .xls or .tab files related to thematic
maps, not even temporary ones used during test purposes. Not daring to
delete obsolete files creates a mess in our directories.
SO I'd really be happy to try your new app..
There is another annoying feature of the same kind, while importing data
from XLS sheets : suppose that you needed to correct something, or that
you wanted to check something and you forgot to close your file before
reopening the MAP info document or the MapInfo .TAB file :
1) You get an advice that the .XLS file couldn't be opened (that's ok, you
have to close it)
2) Your .TAB file is erased (that's not OK : why can't MapInfo leave your
.TAB file untouched ?)
3) If you had your .TAB file in a document, the .WOR file won't open
correctly (here your new application would be really handy).
The only cure I've found this far, was to close all the documents and
reimport the .XLS file in order to recreate the .TAB file. and then reopen
the MapInfo .WOR file. Why does MapInfo erase the .TAB file ?
Thanks for your offer; I'd be happy to give it a try.
Greetings
Christiane

Objet : MI-L App that Resolves Workspaces with Missing Tables
Hey guys,
I created an app while I was at Sydney for the Exponare training for
partners.
It resloves the issue of not being able to open workspaces where
tables no longer exist.
The app automatically removes all references to the missing table
and reorders all layers including shade and create legend commands for
thematic maps.
A new workspace file is created, so the original one remains intact
The user is given an option to replace the references by locating
the missing table manually.
The code itself could be tidied up and I believe that it should work
for all workspace files generated by MapInfo however further testing
is required. I am not sure if I should publish it yet however if
anyone here is interested in trialling out this tool give me a buzz.
It only looks for and removes references of missing TAB files. Any
references to other file types are not supported (ie .3TF files)
