I was concerned about users who have already MapXtreme Java. They pay expensive maintenance. Mapinfo should give update and new functionality to this product if they are paid for it...
If not, why should one pay maintenance and have so little as return to their investment? Anyone else care to comment? Nobody knows if any new features worth mentioning are coming out? Their is still a huge market for java technologies as general compared to .net. However, I believe that Microsoft is gaining lots of ground. Microsoft .net technology is just amazing with what you can do with and it is growing very fast. Therefore, IT Companies have to cope with such change and that's why MapInfo started the new .net product line which will be a huge one. MapXtreme Java is yet another line of product for MapInfo....... I don't believe that MapInfo will let it die but don't expect it to be fast growing compared to .net. However, this is just my opinion. What's happening with it? We see a lot of improvement on the MapXtreme .net version and it's understandable, but the Java version is still in use and improvement are not coming out! Have you heard about future upgrades, new features, etc? Did someone hear that Mapinfo will let it die? I would welcome any comments... Thanks!
