You can download the trial of XMLSpy

Then if you specify a web service location (WSDL), it can build soap
request templates for you and send it to the service, and then it will
show you the soap response, very useful to see the soap messages
involved. And I guess there is more tools in that software for
WebServices, I was just noobing around it so far...

Subject: MI-L MapInfo Web Services

I'm currently exploring how to use XML and SOAP as applied to web
services
servers and clients, and so I was looking for some working examples
(because mine weren't.) I found the Google API
(http://www.google.com/api), which is sort of cool. Then I found an even
more interesting one (for me) at ESRI's ArcWeb services page
(http://arcweb.esri.com/arcwebonline/getting_started/httppostvb_public.h
tm).
They seem to have quite a suite of public mapping-oriented web services
besides the world gazetteer. While most example sites focus on .NET
tools,
ESRI's site provides an example showing how to do this with VB6.

Anyway, I'm looking for more SOAP examples. I figure the more I see, the
more likely I'll "get it" sooner or later. So does anyone know if
MapInfo
has set up anything like ESRI's ArcWeb site? What other good web service
sites do you know of out there?

This seems to be pretty cool stuff. The more I learn, the more I see
that
the future of software is going to be a very different world than
today's.

TIA,

- Bill Thoen
