I have a layer of taxlot polygons with names and addresses. I have another layer of GPSed water meter locations. The water company cannot export the address list from their billing software so that I can join the two layers. So my thought was to create a new column in the taxlot layer and update the column with sequential numbers to use as an identifier. Then we could print the map with the taxlot ID number and go from there. However, I cannot find out how this is done. I tried the archives but cannot seem to find the right wording to get the info from.
My ultimate goal would be to have the GPS coordinates for the meter appended to the taxlot.
