Does anyone know what the differences are between the OGC Simple Feature Geometry definitions for "POLYGON" vs. "MULTIPOLYGON?" (Other than the extra parentheses?)
My guess is that a "POLYGON" has an outside border and zero or more interior "cut outs" (i.e. lakes), but if you have two non-overlapping polygons treated as a single object then it has to be a "MULTIPOLYGON." Also if you have an outside polygon with a "lake" in it, and an "island" in the lake and treat them as a single object (as a MapInfo region is) then that is also a MULTIPOLYGON rather than a POLYGON. But since I'm translating MapInfo objects to an OGC format, should I not split hairs and just treat all region objects as multipolygons? - Bill Thoen --------------------------------------------------------------------- List hosting provided by Directions Magazine | www.directionsmag.com | To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message number: 14382
