Why do you want to create a JPG file ?
JPG files are good for photography, but not really good for graphics and
maps because you will never get clear lines and clean limits to your
poligons, there will always be some smearing due to the compression
algorithm. The best exporting format if you want a raster compressed
format would be GIF. Too bad that MapInfo doesn't offer that. In the
absence of GIF I tend to export TIFF files and to convert the TIF to GIF
in Photoshop when I need a compressed file.
This method could perhaps solve your problem if it's a memory problem and
assuming that additional memory is needed to compress the file to jpg.
We are currently preparing an atlas and after intense testing of different
workflow with our external printer, we finally decided to export WFM files
(aka vector files), because the rasterizing was causing a great loss of
quality, even when exporting to non compressed TIFF.
After all these experiences, I came to the conclusion that the exporting
formats offered in MapInfo are lacking.
Another big flaw is the color management : MapInfo should be able to
handle CMYK color palettes. We are having big trouble with our printer
concerning colors.

Objet : MI-L FW: SAVE LAYOUT WINDOW AS JPEG - FILE SIZE LIMITATIONS
Hi All,
Can any of you mapinfo guru's advise of the maximum file size allowable
to output a layout to jpeg.
I am attempting to create a 300dpi jpeg file. Window size is
914mm/1600mm ; 10794/18897 pixels. I get an error message: 0# file not
registered for access.
I have successfully created a 150 dpi file, whoever a higher resolution
is required jpeg for use in a photo package.
I have 1GB ram.
I look forward to any help.
Kind regards
