Dear All

I have large problem in the I have 5500 tab files for council. I am in
the process of establishing a procedure to reduce the total quantity of
layers. I am taking the philosophy of extracting layers based solely on
the attributes that separate the current, pending and historical
features. This is done by saving queries. Thus I can have less table and
thousands of queries which are easier to manage. The problem is that if
I use this method the layer control will only show the layers named as
Query # and these number make no sense.

I understand that there are tools that rename the layout and map window.
But is there any one that has created a tool that will rename the
layer/query name in the layer control. That way I can have an idea of
what layer needs to be graphically controlled different to others
without having to change the feature in the original table. The best
would be to be able to predetermine resulting query layers name.

Yours Sincerely
