Thanks to all responders :- Markus Lindner, Brendon O'Donovan, Michael

OSi (Ordnance Survey Ireland) offer a range of raster and vector products.
Vector is not supplied in MapInfo format but rather NTF and also DWG/DXF. At
least one translator is available (www.mapsbydesign.co.uk
<www.mapsbydesign.co.uk> ) and CISS TDI (http://www.ciss.de/index.en.shtml
<http://www.ciss.de/index.en.shtml> ) also have a translator, although I'm
not sure if it is for sale. Some companies also process the data into
MapInfo format for resale.

The OSi do not have an equivalent to the Ordnance Survey's pan-government
agreement - all organisations pay a one-off fee for the supply and an annual
copyright fee.

As for other sources of data, CISS offer a street level data set based on
TeleAtlas. There is also some free data available at http://www.geocomm.com
<http://www.geocomm.com> . Collins Bartholomew also offer a package of
raster and vector data (including TAB and MID/MIF).
