I am wondering if there is a utility available that will combine identical polygons based on either an attribute or polygon colour.
I have a table of soils (about 15000 polygons) that have been coloured red, yellow and green, corresponding to an attribute column of E, G and M. I would like to combine polygons where either the spatial or attribute characteristics are identical AND the polygon shares the same boundary with another polygon of identical characteristics. I cannot do a simple Object > Combine, because this will combine all like polygons. In the end I need to determine the areas of each spatially separate polygon groupings, but to reduce the data available, I would like to combine adjacent similar polygons. Any ideas?
