with mapinfo 7.8 you can open a .wor then just save the current wor as a
.mws file, kind of easy translation from .wor to .mws

One more thing... Apparently you can convert a wor to mws by creating a 
geoset (gst) file in MI Pro with the MapX Geoset utility, and then using

the Workspace Manager to convert that to mws. But I still don't see a
way 
to go back from mws to wor.
