One thing that really can slow down things is when the workspace contains names
of printers that no longer exists.

Two ways to deal with this:
1. Open the workspace and save it again with names of printers that exists.
This should remove names of ancient printers from your workspace

2. Under preferences you can setup MapInfo to ignore printer settings when
loading a workspace.

Subject: MI-L Workspace slow to open

Could somebody offer any advice for ways of improving the speed of opening up a
workspace in MapInfo 6.5? There is only one workspace which seems to be causing
a problem and it is only on one PC. The workspace in question is not opening
up any more tables than any other non problematic one. All the tables are
opened easily on their own over the network on the PC.

I have tried emptying all the temporary windows and internet files and I am now
at a loss for what else to try. The PC is operating using Windows 2000 if this
is relevant?

Any suggestions?
