You can't read it directly into MI, but there's a free application called 
Landserf (from www.Landserf.org) that will import them, process them, mosaic 
them if desired, then export to a format that MapInfo can read, like a 
georeferenced TIF file. Or flat XY text file that can be re-gridded in MapInfo.
