600,000 records will do that. You might try exporting it as a MS Access
Database, or even better, a .dbf file. This will nix the geography. If
not, try upgrading to a higher speed SCSI hard drive (if you perform such
queries regularly.)

Hope this helps,

Subject: MI-L Problem saving results

I have run a successful Mapinfo SQL query which generates a table with
approximately 600,000 records. There are two tables, a 1km grid and a set
of irregular polygons which represent soil types. The query runs quickly
enough but when I attempt to save the results, it is amazingly slow. It
had done less than 10% in the morning having asked it to save at about 3pm
the previous day. I am not interested in the 'objects' just the data (it
includes an areaoverlap function). Basically I am trying to determine what
is the amount of each soil type is in each grid square. The filesizes in
the resulting (10% complete ) mapinfo files were not scary, 6-7mb max so
there must be something else going on. Has anybody got any ideas?

Thanks

andy
