Said - Didn't I read somewhere that this is a problem with the RAM used with the HP machines, and that there was a recall? I just did a quick search on the web for - HP recall RAM - and there are a lot of hits. Maybe you should contact your hardware supplier? I don't think it is a hyperthreading problem per se - and other listers have confirmed fault-free operation with their hyperthreading machines and late-release MapInfo versions.
