Didn't I read somewhere that this is a problem with the RAM used with the HP
machines, and that there was a recall?
I just did a quick search on the web for - HP recall RAM - and there are a
lot of hits. Maybe you should contact your hardware supplier? I don't think
it is a hyperthreading problem per se - and other listers have confirmed
fault-free operation with their hyperthreading machines and late-release
MapInfo versions.

Subject: RE: MI-L Hyperthreading issues with Mapinfo Pro 7.5

We have these problems only since we use tha latest HP pc model 7100.
We have used PC with HT before without any problems.
The problem occurs when we load some layer with about 1000 points on the
mapo and then we do some zooming. At this point we get an 'realocate
memory' problem.
When going pn working with MI after a while the program just closes. We do
have this problem only with Win XP and with MI version 7.5 and 7.8 on
these new HP PCs.

What actions are your performing when MapInfo crashesm, and what make of
hardware?

I have been rigorously testing a Dell GX280 3.0Ghz Hyperthreaded with
MI7.8
for the last week and I have had no crashes.

I would like to found out before we settle for HT technology!!
