Dear Peter,
The command you suggested worked well.
Thank you.
It seems to me that Mapinfo 7.0 became
more difficult to use than previous versions....

problem might be that you haven・ specified thecoordsys that should be
used. Try to run this command before running the select statement

Set CoordSys Table TABLE1

MapInfo 7.0 has a new way of dealing with the current coordsys, so that might
cause some problems if you don't specify the correct coordsys

Subject: MI-L about Mapinfo 7.0 and MapBasic

Dear all,

I used Mapinfo Pro. 4.1.2, and issued and a command

select distance(x1,y1,x2,y2,"km") from Table1

from Mapbasic window. The calculation was successful.
(for this version of Mapinfo, I purchased MapBasic separately).

Recently I issued the same calculation command using the same Table1
from Mapbasic window of Mapinfo Professional 7.0 (Build 22).
Calculated distances were all "0".

For this version of Mapinfo, I did not install MapBasic.

Is it necessary to install MapBasic for Mapinfo 7.0 Pro,
if I would like to use such a function as "distance"?

Any information would be appreciated.

Yoshiro
