Hi Christine

I have found this problem occurs even if I know the projection of the shp
files, e.g. if I get a series of shp files from one source, which I assume
(perhaps wrongly) they use same projection for all of their shp files, I
commonly find some shp files load with map entities, others don't.

It would be nice if shp files contained a reference to their original
projection.

Brian

Hi Jake,

I've found that when importing shape files it's very important to do so
in the same projection the file originally came in. I know when I've
imported it automatically goes to default of Lat and Long, however most
of the shape files I'm using are in a NAD 83 BC Albers projection. I'm
using MapInfo 7.8 so hope this is of some help.

Subject: MI-L MI-ArcView Shape Files (.shp)

I requested some precinct map files and they sent me the .shp file along
with some others. I imported the .shp file into MapInfo Pro 6.5
(successfully) and the data shows up in the table when I go to WINDOW ->
NEW BROWSER WINDOW, but the map itself does not show up. Does anyone
have any thoughts on my problem. Thank you.
